Since the Commission on Missing and Exploited Children's (COMEC) mission has been to promote the safety and protection of the Mid-South's children through printed and online resource for parents and caregivers, speaking engagements, and free outreach programs such as the Teen Drug Hotline.

COMEC is solely responsible for issuing area Amber Alerts. In stranger abduction cases there is a 75% Chance that the child will be severely injured or killed within the first 3 hours.

COMEC is an IRS recognized 501c3 charity.  Operational expenses come from both public and private donations, honorariums, memorials as well as grant funding streams.
